Culturally responsive practice
The school has an ongoing commitment to develop relationships with the Akerama and Whakapara marae.
Cultural awareness is embedded in our daily routines and practices. We value the importance of cultural diversity being celebrated and acknowledged at Hukerenui School and we do this in a variety of ways.
Many a fabulous hangi has been put down here to celebrate special times like Matariki!
Our Kapa Haka groups continue to provide great joy and working with our community and teacher to sustain the development is an ongoing process. We love participating in the Kapa Haka festival each year at one of our neighbouring schools.
We value our parent’s wishes and consult with them who range from a diverse range of cultures to support the wellbeing and effective teaching of their children.
